Fall
Focus Career Fair
September 10, 2008
The Fall Focus Career Fair is a collaborative effort between
the College
of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College
of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, the College
of Natural Resources, and the College
of Science.
Wireless
access is available to recruiters the day of the fair. If you wish
to have access, please email Debbie Wilson (dewilso2@vt.edu) with a fax number so that she can fax a form to you to fill out and return.
Companies
must be registered by August 8, 2008 to appear in the Career Fair Guide.
Anyone registering between August 8 and September 3 will be included
in an addendum. Those registering after September 3 will not
be included in the addendum.

Fall
Focus Career Fair Fees
Registration
Fee: $375.00 for an 8' booth and $400.00
for a 10' booth.
This fee includes four representatives. Booth space includes a
6 ft table, chairs, reception, continental breakfast, and lunch.
Each
additional representative over four will be charged $45.00.

Hokies4Hire
Resume Access
The
employers attending the Fall Focus Career Fair will have access
to student resumes via the on-line resume database in the Hokies4Hire
System. This service is free for all Virginia Tech students.
We are encouraging students attending the Fall Focus Career Fair
to login to the Hokies4Hire
System and post their resumes, and also to bring hard copies
of resumes to the fair.
Employers without a Hokies4Hire System account will need to sign up for one to access students'
resumes online at www.career.vt.edu/employer/resumes.htm.
Publicity
The Fall Focus Career Fair will be advertised on campus through
a variety of media. If you would like to advertise your organization's
attendance at this special event, please call the student newspaper,
The Collegiate
Times, at (540) 231-9860 to place an ad.
Attending
companies will also have the opportunity to place an advertisement
in the Career Fair Guide, which is published by jobPostings magazine.
This guide is made available to students and contains information
about each attending organization.

If you are using Hollins Exposition
Services to handle your shipping, follow their
instructions.
If you are using UPS,
Federal
Express, or any other shipping company, do the following:
- Call your courier service three to six (3-6) hours before your
departure time to schedule your shipping pick-up.

- Inform the scheduler that your shipment MUST

Registration
is available online only. After registering, information
on your company will become available to students on our website.
The cost of registering and reserving a booth for four representatives
is $375.00 for an 8' booth and $400.00
for a 10' booth per company. Additional representatives
will be charged $45.00 each. We ask that you submit
your registration prior to August 3, 2008. You will receive a confirmation email
upon receipt of your registration.

Cancellations
prior to August 1, 2008 will result in a 50% refund of registration

Parking
Passes will be provided at the reception on Wednesday evening, when organization representatives check in the morning of the fair, or at the parking lot by shuttle drivers. You must
park in the designated area and take the shuttle to and from Squires,
or you will be ticketed. None of the sponsoring Colleges will
be responsible for parking tickets received by those parking in
areas other than the designated parking area.
Driving
Directions
To
Squires Student Center (From I-81 S):
Take
exit 118B Christiansburg, Blacksburg 460 West. Continue on 460
West for 9 miles.
Go
through the stoplight at Southgate Road, take the next exit toward
downtown.
If
you are unloading at Squires:
You are now on Prices Fork Road. At the third stoplight take a right (Wendy's
is on your right). Go through 1 stop light. Take the next right onto
Alumni Mall. Continue down the mall until you reach the bridge
over the mall; at that point, make a U-turn, so that you are on
the other side of the road. Once you turn around Squires will
be on your right. Unload at the reserved
metered spots just in front of the bus stop.
After
unloading you will be directed to the Special Event parking area
across campus. Shuttles will be provided throughout the day to
take people back and forth from this parking area to Squires Student
Center.
There will be volunteers outside Squires Student Center, to assist
you in unloading your boxes, etc. Upon Checking In at the Employer
Check-In Booth, where you will be issued your parking permit (if
you have not already received it), we ask that you follow the
directions below to the designated FALL FOCUS PARKING AREA. SHUTTLE
VAN SERVICES WILL BE RUNNING ROUND THE CLOCK, from 7:30 AM to
5:00 PM (or as late as needed) to bring you to and from the parking
lot, and Squires Student Center
To
Parking Area from Squires Student Center:
1.
Squires Student Center is on Alumni Mall. Continue straight on
Alumni Mall. Make a U-turn close to Main Street and come back down the mall.
2. Turn RIGHT at the stop sign at the top of the drillfield. Continue around the drillfield, and take a RIGHT at the stop sign at the opposite end of the drillfield onto West Campus Drive.
3 . Take the first LEFT onto Duck Pond Drive. Follow Duck Pond Drive around the Duck Pond, passing the Holtzman Alumni Center entrance, the golf course, and the Overflow Parking area. The SPECIAL EVENT PARKING area will be on your right just past the end of the Duck Pond. Signs will be posted at the entrance to the parking area. A phone number will also be listed on the signs for representatives to call to have the shuttle pick them up.
4 . Shuttle vans will circle the parking area to pick up riders
(average is about 20 minute loop).
From
Parking Area to Squires Student Center:
From
the parking area, turn LEFT onto Duck Pond Drive.
At
the stop sign, turn RIGHT onto West Campus Drive.
Turn LEFT onto Drillfield Drive and continue around the drillfield.
Turn
RIGHT onto Alumni Mall just past the Library. Squires Student
Center will be on your right.
