How
do I know which companies are looking for my major?
You can do your research before the fair by using this website and
the search tool, to go through the companies attending and finding
out what majors they are hiring. Additionally, you may use the printed
form of the Employer Guide, which will be available at the student
check-in table at the fair.
Where
can I learn more about these companies?
Review the profile entered on the Employer Profile on the Fall Focus
Career Fair site, do personal research, read company websites and
printed annual reports, etc.
Where
can I go to receive more preparation for the career fair?
Check out the student section of the Career Services Website: http://www.career.vt.edu or attend one of the workshops offered by the sponsoring Colleges.

What
if I have to come straight from class, will there be a place to
drop my book bag, etc.?
Yes, a book bag drop room will be available behind the employer
check-in counter area of Squires.
Do
I need to bring my VT ID with me, to the Fall Focus Career Fair?
Yes, IDs will be swiped prior to entering the ballroom area.
How
do I supply my resume to employers?
Students will often be asked by employers to leave your resume with
them at the fair. You should also register and upload your resume
in Hokies4Hire
on the career services website. Many employers may advise
you to also enter your resume information into their online system
after the fair.
What
should I wear to the Fall Focus Fair?
Appropriate attire is very important in making a solid first impression.
Students who are interested in pursuing positions with companies,
should wear BUSINESS ATTIRE (a.k.a. suits and dress shoes). Students
attending Fall Focus to gather information about industries, career
directions, etc. may attend wearing nice business casual attire
(a.k.a. khaki pants/skirts, collared shirts/blouses or polo shirts)
--- Remember, even if you're attending only to ask questions, your
first impression is only made ONCE, and recruiters have great memories
about your professionalism, even at the early stages, so 'Dress
to Impress'. For more details on appropriate business attire, check
the Career Services website.
Where
can I pick up a company profile booklet?
You will be able to pick up the Employer Guide book at the student
check-in area on the day of the fair.
Interviewing
after the fair---how does that work?
Some
of the employers attending the Fall Focus Career Fair, will be interviewing
the next day in the Smith Career Center. They will have interview sign-up sheets at their tables and will direct you to sign-up, if they consider you
a viable candidate. Interviews will be scheduled to take place in
the Smith Career Center, on the corner of Washington St. and
West Campus Dr. The employer will tell you further details about
interviews at their fair table.
