The Fall Focus Career Fair is a collaborative effort between the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Natural Resources, the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences and the College of Science. Students will be able to meet and talk with recruiters from many organizations, show their resumes, and build their personal network.

Companies will be recruiting for many different types of positions, including internships, co-ops, and full time jobs.

The Fall Focus Career Fair will be held in Squires Student Center between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2008. Dress is business attire. For information on preparing yourself and your resume for Fall Focus Career Fair, view our resume information and tips section.

On Thursday, September 11, 2008, companies that participated in the fair will have the opportunity to interview students. Companies will make up an interview schedule as they meet students during the fair hours.

Employers use Hokies4Hire to review resumes prior to attending the fair as well as to recruit prospective employees . Students are encouraged to sign up (it's free).

Resume and Career Fair Prep

If you are interested in having your resume available to recruiters attending the fair, you will need to register and submit a resume on the Hokies4Hire System, a program available through the Career Services Office. THERE IS NO FEE CHARGED FOR THIS SERVICE. You can find more information on this and other useful information through the Career Services website at www.career.vt.edu.

VT Career Services has information and tips about putting together a strong and effective resume.

Career Services and the sponsoring colleges will be providing seminars and workshops on Resume Writing prior to the fair. Check your college's website for event details.

Volunteer at the Fall Focus Career Fair

The success of any career fair depends most on two main parties: employers and students. The Fall Focus Career Fair will need student volunteers, on the day of the event and in preparation, to run smoothly. In return, volunteers will be in a great position to meet and work with recruiters from attending companies. Volunteer work for the Fall Focus Career Fair will look great on a resume! And, of course, volunteers will each receive a free Fall Focus Career Fair T-shirt.
